Shield Finance Meme Contest Update

We’ve recently been contacted by a community member who pointed out a couple of errors in the meme contest rules.

  1. We thank the community member for bringing this to our attention.
  2. We present the errors, our responses to them & the final resolution below.

“How to Enter” section didn’t require participants to post on Reddit, while the “Official rules” section did require participants to post on Reddit.

We originally planned to require Reddit posts, but then decided to simplify the rules and remove that requirement. However, we only deleted the rule from “How to Enter” and forgot to delete the rule from “Official rules”.

We admit an error on our part.

The rules said that the winners were to be announced on May 3. However, they were announced on May 14.

We originally planned to launch two contests simultaneously: a contest for meme makers and a contest for meme retweeters. We originally planned to announce the winners of both contests on May 3. However, later we decided to launch them separately, but didn’t update the rules.

We admit an error on our part.

The rules didn’t specify that the winners of the meme contest were to determined by the results of the retweet contest.

Same as previous point — we originally planned to launch both contests at the same time, later we decided to launch them separately, but didn’t update the rules.

We admit an error on our part.

The winning memes are not the best ones.

This is subjective — different people like different memes.

However, it’s true that there was a lot of good memes in the contest, and we also want to reward more authors.

To address these shortcomings, we’ve decided to exercise our right to update the contest rules as mentioned in the “Official Rules”: “Sponsor may […] modify the Contest or suspend the Contest to address the impairment and then resume the Contest in a manner that best conforms to the spirit of these Official Rules; and/or award the prizes at random from among the eligible, non-suspect entries received up to the time of the impairment.”

  1. Increase the prize pool to $2600 USDT.
  2. Split the pool between 8 memes ($325 each).
  3. Expand the list of winners to include more good memes.

The final list of winners:

We’d also like to mention that some winners made two good memes. They are already receiving the prizes — we just want to showcase their work:

To the winners: please send your TRC-20 address via direct message to our official Twitter account.

Final words

Sorry for the errors — sometimes things slip through the cracks.

We’re only humans, after all.
